A pop song in 11/8 time-signature with lyrics in Bosnian written by Maja Redžić.
The story of the song goes years back in the 90's, in the time of the civil war in Yugoslavia. Viktor's Greek father, Ioannis, went to the Red Cross in Skopje and asked for a refugee Bosnian family. He then took Maja and her husband and three children and hosted them for several months, untill they were given asylum in the Netherlands. By that time, Maja gave birth to her fourth child. A boy, that she named Ioannis. Years later, Maja posted a poem on Facebook which Viktor saw. The poem was titled Roots and Viktor remembered the events that caused it.
The melody itself just flew effortlessly in very short time.
lyrics
